Should i buy a used dirt bike with no pink slip or vin number?

A guy is selling a 2008 yz250f for cheap and I want to buy it but I don’t know if the bike is stolen or not. He rebulit the motor and did a buch of work on the bike for someone and he had them sign a paper saying if they didn’t pay or somthing like that then he has ownership of the bike. So he has no pink slip and he says he removed the vin number because of insurance purposes. Is this safe to buy? If it is the how do I get it registered in my name?

Why do we need so many new laws and curbs on our freedom?

Governments these days seem to think their only job is to think of new laws to pass. Inevitably that means we are being more controlled and spied on. I would like to see a government which applies itself to giving us more freedom over trivial things while excercising strong control over serious offences.

A good start would be for Parliament to spend some serious time comming up with a long overdue Bill of Rights so that our existing freedoms don’t continue to be erroded.

It is necessary to have laws and punishment of anti-social crimes like murder, rape, theft and assault.

If people want to ride in a car with no seatbelt, a motor bike with no helmet, smoke in designated rooms which non smokers don’t need to go in then let them. The usual excuse for interference is that they cost the health service but in fact smokers pay a fortune in tax to cover their healthcare and drivers could be required to pay a health insurance premium if they wanted to take the added risk of injury for not wearing a seatbelt or helmet.

Censorship should be limited to harmful subjects such as extreme violence which may be copied. Censorship on strictly moral grounds such as nudity and non violent sex is some people trying to impose their personal values on other people and should not be allowed.

Someone should tell the Government that their job is to govern, not to sit there all day trying to justify their salaries by trying to think of new laws to pass.

What do you think?

How much would a bike cost?

If I were to buy a motor bike (not exactly like a motorcycle but similar?) How mcuh would that cost? With insurance and everything
Something like a dirt bike? Or a cheap motor cycle?
I am 17 and just got my license

Highest MPG for a used older model car?

Any ideas or suggestions. Best miles per gallon from an older model used car (not bikes sorry). Standard gas or diesel fuel only, no electrics, solar or battery or hybrids. Something you can find and buy used today for cheap, and start driving tommorrow – no expensive full coverage insurance necessary to keep banks happy, no monthly loans to worry about, just a minimum no frills piece of transportation that will get you to work and make money. Idea is: you don’t go to work to make money to pay the car, the car takes you to work to make money for YOU.

1982 VW Diesel Rabbit.
1982 Izuzu I-Mark Diesel
1992-2002 Geo/Chevy Metro’s 1.0 liter
VW Jettas, Fox, the Bug (older ones)
Honda Civics, Accords, CRX 1.3 liter motors
Toyota Tercels
Ford Fiestas

The basic assumption here is to pay cash for the car, buy it and register it for cheap mimimum insurance coverage, drive it to work or around town for errands with the least amount of repair and expenses. Must get over 35mpg city.

Is this Legal to ride in IL?

I have a 110cc X19-CR Dominator (http://www.minipocketrockets.com/super-pocket-bikes-x19/) I pulled this off dmv.org (If you’re confused about whether your cycle qualifies as a motorcycle, contact the Secretary of State’s office at (800)252-8980. However, if your cycle has an engine displacement of more than 150 cc, it’s considered to be a motorcycle. If it’s less than that, it’s classified as a motor-driven cycle.) so because it is considered a motor driven cycle, can i ride it on small neighborhood streets with out a license plate, insurance, and drivers licence ?
the rider is 13

Is this motorcycle for sale a scam:?

I found a 2004 Yamaha R1 (great condition) on ebay. I emailed the guy about it and did not get a response…. until the other day. Apparently he had to take the bike off ebay because he had a potential local buyer that fell through. Here is his email:

I recently just got approved for a loan for a motorcycle and I have been shopping around. He emailed me back today with:

Is this a scam?? Do you think this is a too-good-to-be-true deal?

Is this typical of Liberal Governments?

This bill, if passed, will require N.J. residents with bicycles to register their bikes with the Department of Motor Vehicle. Why is it that Liberal Governments feel that it is necessary to police everything? What’s next requiring insurance for bicyclist?

P.S. I am also not a Conservative, so therefore quick fallacious responses about what Conservatives or Republicans do is irrelevant to this post.

http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bills/A4000/3657_I1.HTM

@Shahh. The people who have to live under this law do.
@ Ben. Why does it matter? 1.) Because it is a law that effects people. 2.) Some of these legislators who are considering this bill do have ambitions to serve in the Federal branch of our Government. 3.) Because it may be used as justification in other State legislators to try these types of laws.
@Mr. Rational, I am aware. However, it’s legislative branches have been controlled by the democratic party for over forty years consecutively, and the bill was introduced by a Democrat, not by Governor Christie.
@ Jake. That is already taken care of. It’s called a serial number.
@ The pleasure of Flesh. Read P.S., I am not at all, at this moment in time, concerned about what Conservatives do. Nor can you justify the ridiculous actions made by Liberals, with the ridiculous actions of Conservatives.

@macstu23. Agreed, the word (Liberal) is intended on how it is understood in this forum.
So the Liberal Government in which I am referring to is New Jersey’s State legislator. This law could also be labeled as progressive. But I’m not interested in arguing semantics.

new engine or new car?

i have a 79 el-comino

the engines been rebuilt already once before so i dont think thats a option again… its got a total of 175500 miles on it

im in collage but i do need either a bed or a small suv to put scuba gear/bikes/ect in

from the dealer i was told about ~1500 for a motor(not clear on what comes with the motor, does anyone know what does?) and estimated ~1000-1500 more after all tax/work and junk is done

is it worth getting a new motor? or should i start trying to find a rav4 in my price range?

and one last question, when you include mpg/insurance cost/tax/credit or loan charges… is getting a new car saving me or costing me money for the long run?
since its a old car new engines arent made, i’d be getting a refurbished(not rebuilt) one…
or does any one know of a non-standard engine i should be looking for?
oh…and if you suggest a new car…please suggest one or say what the expected price range im looking at, so far ive only checked carmax

if you have a better site that would be useful too

I need some motorcycle information?

Ok, I’m currently 15 years old and planning to buy a motorcycle next spring/summer. I would like to know what type of motorcycle you would recommend? I want one that looks like a good sport bike but is comfortable and fits 2 people. How big of an engine would you recommend? Is there a brand you like best? How should I go about buying one? Should I go to a dealer or eBay motors or local classifieds? For insurance, should I go with AAA with my parents> or another company with only me? What kind of coverage should I have (I plan on having a pretty good job)? How should I tell my parents I’m looking to buy a motorcycle? Ok, so I need some model suggestions, here is the type of bike I want: Fits 2 people, good speed and accel, looks like a sweet fast bike, good for a beginner, not too expensive, fits someone 6ft 200lbs! Thanks so much!

Determining eligibility for SSDI benefits?

Hello! I became disabled as the result of a severe motor vehicle accident in 2007. While the majority of my injuries have healed, I am not in the 100% condition as I had been prior to the accident. (For those that are morbidly curious, I was on my Harley touring bike when a Cadillac crossed the centerline and hit me head-on, and I have only one uninjured limb and 3 implants.)

I am contemplating applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, since I am retired from my life-long occupation. When the Social Security Administration (SSA) considers my application, do they look at purely the fact that I am disabled, or do they look at the percentage of disability?

Thank you in advance for your input!
